I had a great night out here with my friend! The cocktails are amazing. I absolutely loved the passion fruit margarita and the Frida Margarita. Some of the dishes were not excellent, I have tried better Mexican food before (especially the beans, they should be real black beans, not English breakfast beans), but there were some items on the menu that you really should go for: I loved the pork tacos 'alambra ' and the spicy peanut sauce at Cantina de Frida. The ceviche was also pretty damn good! Most of all I think you go here for a good night out with friends, take some photos with the sombreros, catch Latino vibes and enjoy the friendly and excellent service!
I hope you are reading your own comments... We had been considering this place for long time but been scared because of all the comments on Tripadvisor: the menu does not match with the reality, expensive, bad service, long waiting time... after the nachos I thought we had proofed the comments wrong; nachos were good, they came quite fast and even we waited the menus or the drink orders, the waiter felt like listening to us. Well when the first plates came, there was the first error: my boyfriend was supposed to have quesadillas with mushrooms but instead he had chicken. Hunger won and he did not complain. The main course came after a while. It looked nice but when I started to eat my vegetarian enchillada , only thing inside was mushrooms, nothing else. In the menu it said chicken or vegetables vegetables is not the same as mushrooms... I told this to the waiter and he promised to bring me some peppers on the side so I could mix. Never got those. Neither my wine which I ordered when we got the dishes. I did not eat my main dish (to be honest, mushrooms tasted old), so I asked them not to charge me for this. The guy told me that it was not his mistake as it did not have meat so it was vegetarian. Well fix your menu then to tell that the options are chicken or mushrooms, not vegetables? They invited us for 3 drinks (in total) but still the bill was more than 20€ per person. Beer 5€? Ok, well I tried and I believed that I could have found a nice place close by home to go more often but have to admit that they really have not read the comments online, or they dont care. You could have your restaurant full every evening by changing the menu a bit more client friendly, by knowing your dishes, by selling them correctly and by asking once in a while on the tables if everything is good or if any drinks needed etc. I used to run my own place before moving from my home country and can tell that you would have potential but you have no effort. Hire a good consultant to fix these things and you can double your money flow, I promise. For now, not recommending, neither will go back. Not even for the nachos.
We are a family of three, and we live up the street from this restaurant. As a Southern California native, finding authentic Mexican food in this part of the world has been a challenge. Luckily we found this gem and ordered takeout. Burritos, taquitos, nachos, and chicken Caesar salad are all excellent! We plan to eat here frequently! The owner is very friendly, and while we have not eaten inside the restaurant yet, it is beautifully designed and has a nice bar area as well.
