But the host Louis was so accommodating that he went out of his way to arrange for veg sandwiches and coffee and to look for what else he could offer. We sincerely appreciated his welcoming gesture and would definitely recommend you to stop over. See you next time
A group of us traveled towards sintra and alcobaça and there was a scheduled stop for the driver to rest. this is a well-known lunch place on the tour group' route, but don't leave this restaurant in...all it is located in an attractive, traditional, pink country house (although in a city) surrounded by large and beautiful gardens. when we arrived, we were offered a welcome glass of cooled champagne. the dona isilda offers a rich and affordable lunch buffet every day beside the Tuesdays. These include some good (and unusual for such a restaurant in portugal) appetizing fish dishes, such as large mushes or roasted fish goujons, fresh salads, cheese and cold meat or sausage. there are also many hot main courses on the buffet, although these are the usual suspects in portugal: cut meat in gravy and bacalhau flock drowned in cream etc I don't like personally, but other guests had stacked their teller high with many of the options. for dessert there were fifteen (yes) types of cake and pudding offered. weine, beer and sangria as well as softdrinks are included in the buffet price. the other guests this day seemed to be many retired local couples and a large Portuguese family that celebrated a baptism, so it clearly has the blessings of the native. tour groups are housed in a large hall at the back of the buffet, while families and couples are sitting at the windows with views of the garden. all in all, this is a very good value and more reliable box stop. only a critique: the toilets were in a terrible chaos it seemed that the staff had no time or a tendency to monitor these facilities during the lunch service.
