The food here is excellent and the menu features daily specials that vary each day.
The Indian food was quite disappointing. Honestly, I think they need to reconsider their chef because I really didn't enjoy it at all.
The various stations include: - Sauté (usually pasta or sautéed dishes) - Brick (typically pizza or other baked items) - Umami (Asian dishes, mostly Korean) - Sushi (rolls, nigiri, etc.) - Grill (with daily specials, seared options, sandwiches, and typical grill fare like burgers and fries) - Rolled (Indian wraps) - Spiced (Indian dishes, usually three different types each day) - Salad bar - Make-your-own sandwich bar - Soups The Umami station, introduced in 2018, has already served up some fantastic dishes like Korean ramen, bibimbap, pho, and fried chicken. The Rolled station, featuring Indian wraps, is also excellent and offers great value! For just $7, you get a full wrap that includes a daily dish (like chicken tikka masala), along with egg, onions, and lettuce, plus a side of either fruit or yogurt rice. Just a heads up: yogurt rice is only available on Wednesdays and Fridays, but I highly recommend it! Additionally, there are freshly made drinks available for free for employees, with a small charge for non-employees. There's usually a daily selection of agua fresca, spa water, tea, and lemonade. If possible, try to grab a seat in the back! As the name suggests, Hilltop Cafe is situated on a hilltop, and the view is quite lovely. It does get quite crowded around noon, so I recommend arriving at 11:30 AM or 1 PM after the lunch rush subsides.
However, the salad bar and soups leave much to be desired. Although I often opt for a DIY salad to maintain a healthy lunch, the ingredient choices are quite limited. The cubed chicken, which costs an extra dollar, is bland and unappetizing. My experience with the soups has been disappointing as well; they seem to contain protein that's likely leftover from the previous day. Unlike many other tech companies in Silicon Valley, meals here aren't free for employees, but this may be a blessing in disguise since it helps to curb overeating. I've never spent more than $10 on lunch during my visits.
