Yayoi - Palo Alto

Amazing! Our mother picked this Japanese restaurant for her birthday celebration today. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was lovely, and the ordering process was awesome. Plus, the tip is already included! So happy!

We had never been to a restaurant where you order by monitor before, so it was a new experience for us! Even though we are more old school, we still enjoyed our meal and gave it 4 stars out of 5. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, with reasonable prices. The menu was a bit limited, but the udon noodles were amazing - definitely a standout dish. The salmon was fresh and all the food was tasty. We didn't interact with the staff much, as they stayed in the kitchen to prepare orders from the monitors. However, when they did bring out our food, they were very friendly.

[4/5, Palo Alto, CA] 肉うどん(Niku Udon) was pretty much what I expected bouncy texture udon, soupy, generous servings of green onions, some kelp and a touch of tempura flakes. The sushi rolls were solid and reminded me of @naminori.nyc great taste, warm rice, relatively crispy seaweed of course, it would be an affront to compare it to @naminori.nyc but I saw similarities. The 焼き肉重 (Yakiniku ju) was great definitely order it. Appetizers of #gyoza and #takoyaki were okay. Taste was great overall, but a little pricey. Appetizers came out after mains too so that was a blemish. Will come back.

Food taste good overall, tho I’ve tasted better. For me personally, the gyoza made the visit worth it.
