It is definitely worth making the trip from Palolem Beach to this restaurant because the food is incredibly cheap and delicious! I have eaten many Indian dishes in my life, including many masala dosas, but the ones here were fantastic. We even asked for extra masala so we could enjoy more of the delicious potato filling. I also really enjoyed the Coconut Chutney and sambhar. The masala dosa is priced at about 40 rupees or less. I also tried the thali, but it came with some non-vegan curds in one of the small dishes, so be aware of that. The restaurant may not be completely vegan, so if you are strict about that, be cautious. They also serve tasty puri bhajis, fluffy puris with bhaji, which is the same lentil sauce that comes with the thali. I also tried the uttapam, a big one served with coconut chutney and sambhar. The restaurant is located a few kilometers from Palolem in the direction of Chaudi. Look for Udupi on the left side of the road, a few kilometers past the crossing after Agonda. It's not a fancy restaurant, so it's best for a quick meal. They have a sink outside for hand-washing. Remember to bring hand sanitizer, as you will be eating with your fingers.
This restaurant is definitely worth the trip from Palolem Beach, as the food is incredibly affordable and delicious! I have tried a lot of Indian food and masala dosas in my life, but the masala dosas here were exceptional! We even asked for extra masala so we could enjoy more of the delicious potato filling. I also really enjoyed the coconut chutney and rasam. The masala dosa costs around 40 rupees or less. I also tried the thali, but be aware that it comes with non-vegan curd in one of the small bowls. Like many Indian vegetarian restaurants, it's hard to guarantee that no milk products are used. They also offer tasty puri bhajis, fluffy puri breads with bhaji, which is the same lentil sauce that comes with the thali. I also tried the onion uttapam, which was great and came with coconut chutney and sambhar. The restaurant is located a few kilometers from Palolem towards Chaudi. Just keep driving past the intersection to Agonda and you will see Udupi on your left. The restaurant is not very comfortable, so it's best to just eat quickly and leave. You can wash your hands at the sink outside, and don't forget to bring hand sanitizer as you will be eating with your fingers.
Coming to Udupi from Palolem Beach is definitely worth it due to the delicious and incredibly cheap food. I have tried many Masala Dosas in my life, but the ones here were truly fantastic. We even asked for extra masala to enjoy more of the delicious potato filling. The Coconut Chutney and Rasam were also favorites of mine. The Masala Dosa costs around 40 rupees or less, making it a great deal. I also tried the thali, which came with non-vegan curds in one of the small bowls, so be aware of that. However, as with many Indian vegetarian restaurants, you can never be completely sure about the use of dairy products. The puri bhajis were also delicious, with fluffy puri bread and bhaji. The onion uttapam was another tasty dish, served with coconut chutney and sambhar. Udupi is not a cozy restaurant, so it's best if you just eat quickly and leave. They provide a sink outside for you to wash your hands, and remember to bring hand sanitizer as you will be eating with your fingers. To get there, drive a few kilometers from Palolem towards Chaudi, passing the intersection to Agonda and continuing on until you reach Udupi on the left side, next to a gas station. Alternatively, you can take a tuk tuk to get there.
