Lucca - Panama

I love the food. The service was wonderful. I enjoyed my time in this restaurant.

Open, bustling restaurant. A lot of tasty menu items. Service is definitely lacking. Beef Carpaccio 5/5 Focaccia 4/5 Lasagna Bolognese 4/5 The carpaccio was fantastic. Super fresh and delicious. I was hesitant with the presentation because it looked like store bought ingredients. But was really really good. The focaccia was tasty. The lasagna was good. A little light on the flavor in some areas. Could have used more salt. The service is bad. Took me a few times to flag someone down to order. I was there for almost an hour and a half and they never offered to refill my water. The waiter at the end asked for a tip and I said yes, gave him 10% and he seemed shocked it wasn’t more money. Hit or miss restaurant.

This was a very last minute plan to eat here. And sometimes last minute plans work out great. I knew about the restaurant’s high rating and it was a block away from our hotel. After sitting in horrible pay-day Panama traffic, we didn’t want to get back in a car to Casco Viejo where our original reservation was for the night. Lucca not only provided a back up plan but they also delivered on a great meal in a relaxing atmosphere, (once the screaming baby next to us left. . The wines were diverse and delicious. And our server was delightful and attentive. And easy to make last minute reservations on OpenTable. I would totally return to try some of their pastas and pizzas next time.

I would consider LUCCA to be one of the upscale eateries in the neighborhood. The food is excellent and the atmosphere refined. You can find reasonable prices on the menu so don’t let me scare you away; it is just a nice place. I have eaten here three times in the last week. Pizza was some of, if not THE, best I have had in Panama. Pasta was perfectly cooked and delicious as well. My date agreed!

This is an Italian cuisine restaurant that seems to be very popular. I've tried to visit several times and in all my attempts there were no available parking spaces. This last try, I decided to wait until getting a parking space, and boy it was worth it. I had ordered pizzas from them as delivery and I enjoyed them. But now that I sat at a table and had a taste of their food very warm and served right away from the kitchen made it a whole lot better! The freshness in their food is awesome and the quality of the ingredients used is highly noticeable. I will definitely go again to order some other items from their menu as they sure cook good!
