You may need to wait long if coming in as a big group even if the food is already cooked. Unlimited rice and soup is offered by the kind servers. There are also plenty of antique furniture available for dining with indoor and covered outdoor options. For some reason, we had a hard time finding restaurants in Paoay that are accessible to the physically-impaired. This restaurant at least allows my mom to use her walker to access the restaurant. Located in an old house, this is really a turo-turo carinderia with unlimited rice, if you order meals here. Best to seat at the indoor al fresco area, as indoors, even when they put on the Aircon, it's still warm and humid. They have a variety of Ilocano dishes and the owner recommends their Ilocos sardines or fish dishes. All the dishes are really for sharing. Taste-wise, just straight carinderia fare for the tourist market (ie priced higher than your regular carinderia). Note: the toilets are not exactly up to hygiene standards (they mildly stink), so it's best that you use the restroom at McDonald's etc before you get to Paoay.
Our tour brought us here for breakfast on our first day in Ilocos. We arrived a bit late because it took a while at the triage. When we got there, the place was already full of tourists. The place is cramped and made me wonder how they'll be able to accommodate all the people lined up. Food wise, it's a bit expensive. It really is tourist price. One order of bagnet costs P200. It would have been okay had the bagnet been warm. Unfortunately, it was just like your typical cafeteria. They did not use any warming pans so the food they served were all cold. So the bagnet was all greasy and icky. Their fried chicken was also bland. It did not have any taste at all. Coffee was quite expensive as well. One sachet of instant coffee cost 25 pesos, hot water included. If it's just the coffee, it's 15 pesos. It was also semi-self service. You get your rice yourself but for the other dishes, someone gives you the serving. Anyway, I just think of it as the help of tourism industry to small businesses. It's obvious that the tour agency tied up with the restaurant so I guess it's okay. I just hope their food and space improves in the future.
