Contribuisci feedbackBeing complete amateurs to many African foods, we had no idea what to expect at our initiation to Eritrean cuisine, and were pretty excited to dine at Asmara.The food was truly interesting, some were vaguely reminiscent of other cuisines. My partner ordered the cabbage and meat pastry for entree, which was not unlike Indian samosa, while I went with an avocado salad. He also ordered a mango yogurt drink which was very much like an Indian lassi.Our main course was the tasting platter. It was the first time in our lives we tried injera, the flatbread made from teff flour. We found it really fun using our hands to peel the bread and scoop the dips, which were mysterious but quite tasty.For dessert, we chose a pineapple cake and the battered fried banana, which was like an Indonesian/Malaysian pisang goreng.The only issues were that we felt the portions were rather small, and we had to ask and pay for a top-up of salad. The waiting time for the food was also quite long, but I guess it was worth the wait for the food (just something to note if you're really hungry, or don't like waiting for your meals).Otherwise, we think it's definitely worth a visit to discover Eritrean cuisine.
