Ici rue Mabillon, ça n'était pas si mal, mais tout clochait un peu. Question: que vont devenir les maquettes?
Visité plusieurs fois depuis plusieurs années, la cuisine semble immuable et de très bonne qualité. Avec un rapport qualité prix qui est intéressant pour ce quartier de Paris
With a heavy heart I must report that the great Aux Charpentiers, where we have been enjoying lunch for 20 or more years, has closed. This was perhaps the most characterful restaurant in Paris - a quirky, old-fashioned bistro with an irreplacable atmosphere, and terrific yet simple food (not least the wonderful andouiette). Where shall we see its like again? A very sad day for those who love old Paris, comfortable, faintly eccentric yet profoundly good restaurants, and traditional French country cooking. Charpentiers has given us great happiness over the years, so thanks for that, to a special place. Good luck and best wishes to the owners and staff!
Aux Charpentiers it's a 40 yrs old fashioned bistro serving popular cuisine with some Correzian dishes. Don't expect creativity or subtility you get what you expect, invigorating classic home cooking. Onion soup, celery remoulade, andouillette Duval, black pudding, clafoutis, Côtes du Rhône.Decor is as traditional as food and clients. Frontage of wood and glass, old prints of carpenters guild on the walls, pewter counter, towel racks for regulars. Atmosphere of past times.Aux Charpentiers is located in the heart of St Germain des Prés. With a small terrace overlooking St Germain market but too closed from narrow and busy Mabillon street.I'm afraid Aux Charpentiers was not forever.
From Danish Television I was recommended the tatar, so I went there. Table reservation by phone went perfect, reception very fine, prompt and smiling service and food was excellent. I still prefer the Danish version of Tatar :-) Guest was frequent visitors and premises served their function. No luxury, well used. Management was very active in asking, serving and making the guests comfortable.
