We sat under the awning with lovely food and gracious service while the heavens opened - a torrential deluge. Our gracious host (Moose?) was clearly upset that his customers had been inconvenienced by the weather. The level of pride and care he showed, along with the delicious food, explains why this apparently modest cafe is so special.
Often when you have a great memory of a restaurant meal, it proves to not be as good upon return. NOT SO at the B.D.J. cafe! As before, service was excellent and the food was phenomenal. Both the manager/waiter and the chef have been there for many years, and it's amazing what they do in such a small space! We will be returning again whenever we get the chance to to back to Paris. Very sorry to hear about the insulting review-very unfair and untrue! A bientot, B.D.J.!
We were late trying to catch a F1 race on a tv and ran into this little jewel. The owner was extremely nice and allowed us full ownership of the wallmounted TV so we were able to watch the race. The food was amazing but this was not a surprize considering it is France... duh! Try the tarte tantin and the williams grappa. Duck breasts were lovely as well. Highly recommend this place.
We love the BDJ. I cannot imagine eating anywhere else. The staff are gracious and welcoming, and the food is great and inexpensive. As to the most recent review...Frozen food? Really? We always sit in the "back room" and have a good view of what is happening in the kitchen. I am astonished by this assertion, which is insulting to the chef, who works very hard indeed! So pleased you won't be returning to the BDJ!!!
