Of all the bakeries I've been to in LA, this is the least likely I'd return to, but I do hope that some of the other options were much better. Croccantino (beige, long one): Only my last bite had any of the crunchy hazelnut layer. Without it, the rest was just textureless and mostly flavorless. 2/5 Golosa (white): The inside tastes like strawberry, not raspberry. Either way, seems way too sugareddown, the flavor was very tame. The flavorless white exterior also had a weird texture. 2/5 Velina (chocolate): Very rich chocolate flavor. Not much hazelnut flavor. Very little crunch in the middle. Still good, just not what was expected.4/5 Strawberry cheesecake: Not the best in the world, but pretty well up there. 4/5
Wonderful, quaint cafe in a quiet area of the Pasadena downtown area. Delicious gelato, cakes and coffees. We tried the Carrara gelato delicious Hazelnut goodiness and the pastries tasted equally amazing. Staff was very friendly and patient, definitely recommended if you are in the area and craving something sweet to round out your day.
This place is outstanding! Came here looking for a last minute Easter treat idea for my mom and this place did not disappoint. I was looking for something fruity with my mom's two favorite being peach and mango. To my surprise they actually have a Peach Mango mousse cake so that made things easy. I was helped by a friendly employee behind the counter that was very helpful and packaged everything up nicely. Then I asked about how much time the cake could be out of refrigerationsince I had to take the Gold line train home. She informed me the mousse cakes are frozen and should be thawed about 2 hours before slicing. That was pretty much the perfect situation for myself. Got a cake combined with moms two favoritesand the cake survived the sunny commute home. Flavor wise, the cake was delicious. The mousse was flavorful and not loaded with sugar, the glaze was not too thick and didn't take away from the rest of the flavors. They sell cakes and alsosmall individual pastries and coffee. Their biggest cake will run about $39 and their smallest was $24 I believe. I will definitely be returning.
First time being to carrara's I love my pastry and I had try different place, this by far is my favor place I'm still going to come back to try the other different pastry I didn't try. The mango sobetto was really good , it's organic and 100% fruit in every bite you can taste the sweetness of the mango it was really good. I recommend you just to try this place if your in Pasadena.
I never knew about this place, but we're so glad we found it. In general, I don't love American sweets; the flavors are so overwhelming. This place has much more subtle flavors that don't make me sick (huge bonus! , and everything we tried was delicious. It's a few blocks away from Colorado Av, but I think it's worth it.
