This refuge put on a wonderful jazz evening on 21st June. Most of the diners were staying there but we walked up in the late afternoon, had hot wine and then the jazz started brilliant! Dinner followed after about an hour of jazz, followed by another session of music. When it was over we left in the dusk with torches and arrived back at our car after about two hours in complete darkness. A wonderful midsummer experience. The food was fine, much as you would expect in a refuge where deliveries are seldom but the whole place was so welcoming and a most memorable evening.
Let's go! You will enjoy the view, the great air and the service! Bravo the team!
We took advantage of this refuge for one of our stages of the needle tower. The setting is beautiful, the terrace of the refuge is very pleasant. We advise you to go for a ride to Lake Pormenaz after depositing the hiking bag. The service team is made up of young people (very young seasoners (sumably very nice summerjob and eager to provide the maximum. Thanks to them. For the rest fortunately that the refuge was not complete because we had a confirmed reservation for 5, to discover that only 3 places were reserved for us. Fearing light on our arrival: No shower (but we are responsible for the water shortage because of our impact on the environment but the sanitary space is very clean with many washbasins and irreproachable toilets. The water is free to recharge the bottles. We had chosen for the evening meal, fondue and found it largely enough in quantities: large amount of cheese and crusts for big eaters. And as a bonus, an egg was offered to us. Nice. Now for the price it remains cheese and bread croutons. It is also the black point of the three refuges (Lac Blanc Bellachat Moede Anterne of this turn of the Red Aiguilles: the prices. Although finally Moede Anterne remains the most affordable (but expensive for a road-powered shelter and not by helicopter. We shared a dormitory for 9 people. No luck another hiker has made an allergy and so has greatly disturbed the night of other sleepers. For my part I slept very well in a fairly large bed. But not sure that the mattress protection sheet is changed after each night. Breakfast is a little more hearty than the other refuges since 'we can have fruit juice at will. But it remains very simple for the requested price. When at picnic it is also very summary for the price and effort to provide during the hike. We will return with pleasure even if it does not have the spirit of the high mountain.
Best blueberry pie in the turn of red needles, homemade, tasted at the exit of the oven in front of a magnificent view We recommend !
