A dismal disappointment. I had out of town relatives visit. We decided to try Lafayette Creamery in Paw Paw. I had never been there but have passed by many, many times. Once inside, the first impression was that the interior was dumpy not furnished well or attractive at all. I could overlook that if the product was good. We had Lemon Curd that wasn't lemony at all, Giggle Moon that was a little more lemony than the Lemon Curd but really just okay, and Butter Pecan which tasted like . . . well, not much of anything. We were also a little disappointed in the number of flavor selections. Based on the product, we would have done much better to go elsewhere. The two kids working behind the counter seemed to be less than enthused to be there, maybe even slightly pained. Again, could overlook that if the ice cream was even half way decent. We tried. I won't be back. I would like to support local businesses but this experience was more or less a bust. It makes me sad that it wasn't a good find.

1) The two staff members on duty were unfriendly and seemed lazy, and they definitely need better training. An elderly couple in front of us appeared to annoy them. The woman expressed her happiness about their reopening, but neither staff member engaged with her. She even tipped one of them with cash, but he didn’t even say thank you. Talk about poor manners! 2) They clearly need more training on what constitutes a single scoop. We've visited over 30 times and have always been satisfied with the portions. However, tonight we received less than half a scoop of ice cream. The couple in front of us commented on the small serving, and when we brought it up, the staff member insisted that what he was giving was the correct portion for a single scoop. For $4, we got maybe 3 or 4 tiny bites of ice cream. It felt like a bad joke, especially given the staff’s attitude. 3) Lastly, where have all the ice cream flavors gone? We have come several times this season hoping to see some of our favorite flavors return, but we’ve been met with disappointment each time. After tonight, we probably won’t come back. We were regular customers last year, but I think I’d rather go to Mooville Ice Cream in Mattawan, where you actually get your money’s worth and enjoy great service.
The ice cream here is absolutely delightful, with a wide variety of unique flavors to pick from!
