The coffee was delightful, and it's a fantastic spot to enjoy a cup with friends in a beautiful setting.

Dogs are allowed out on the patio and the view is lovely. The food is great and the staff are helpful, professional and very friendly. My only criticism is that it's a wee bit pricey but the shop and the cafe are the same.

This is a very nice restaurant but it's within the Dalkeith Country Park and one has to pay a £3.00 parking fee to use the restaurant's facilities. It seems to me that it would be very easy to allow the parking fee to be deducted from your restaurant bill (perhaps if you spend over a fixed price) however, this does not happen at present and while the coffee is good it will be an expensive cup if that's all you want.

Food was not great quality, pretty sure the Mac and cheese was out of a packet, tinned salmon for the nicoise salad and had to pay extra for eggs, makes it not a nicoise salad. Vegan option very dry, could have done with a lot more sauce and sweet potato, service was slow, waitress just standing around whilst we were waiting to order.
