I started with the deep-fried avocados, which were absolutely delicious—definitely a must-try. I also ordered two fish tacos, and at $3.95 each, they were a fantastic deal. I appreciated that they weren't overstuffed with toppings; they had just the right amount. The sauce added a nice zest that complemented the fish very well. However, the salsa that accompanied the tacos could use some improvement; it tasted more like blended ketchup than a proper salsa. Despite that, I will definitely return and recommend this food truck! Plus, they serve beer, making it a great spot for lunch or a casual dinner date, especially for Taco Tuesday with a cold cerveza!
When the food finally arrived, it was cold— the cheese hadn’t even melted. To make matters worse, our quesadilla was burnt to a crisp, and the chips were both stale and overcooked. The sauces were unappetizing and inedible. Overall, it felt like a waste of money since we ended up throwing most of our food away. The only positive note was that my toddler enjoyed playing with the rocks while we waited. Also, I noticed that the place is now called Calavera Tacos.
The inconsistency in your food quality seems to stem from your staff. Some days, my tacos are perfectly crispy and firm, while other days they turn out soggy and limp. It’s clear that there isn't a proper schedule for cleaning or replacing the deep fry oil, as I've even had items that had a fishy taste—when there wasn’t any fish involved! Some tacos appear to be hastily assembled rather than thoughtfully crafted. When everything goes right, the food is fantastic, but it can also be quite disappointing. I do love the fresh avocado. ZTaco is one of the best fusion restaurants in Pensacola, but these issues are leading to a negative impression among customers.
Calavera Tacos seems to be the new name now. Ordered the chicken tacos and was not amused by the taste of them. The tortillas were a little stale and the queso that came with the taco was not good.
Z Terrible. When Z Taco first opened at Al Fresco a few years ago, it was on par with the type of food truck food you would find in Los Angeles or Miami. Servings were fresh, tasty, and plentiful and the staff and management was top notch and took pride in the food and service. I gladly recommended the food to locals and tourists. My how things have changed. That professional management has been replaced by unkempt, surly millennials and skimpy, bland, sloppily served food. My past two experiences have been terrible. On one occasion, my tacos were cold and missing ingredients and the cheese on top was some cold, tasteless processed slime. Worse, the pork portion on the taco was half of the amount it used to be. Because of my affinity for the place, I wanted to give it another try. This time, I ordered a children's taco meal for my daughter which includes a soft chicken taco, chips, drink, and treat for $4.50. I asked if I could get an extra taco with the meal, expecting a small upcharge. The girl who took my order charged me for two separate adult tacos at $3.50 apiece and another $2.00 for a drink. Doing the math, that is $9.00. I tried to explain to her that she was charging me two times the amount of the kid's meal for just two tacos and a drink but she refused to listen. The manager came out to speak to me and he was dirty, unkempt, and disheveled. I have seen homeless people with a better personal hygiene and appearance. After 5 minutes of trying to explain how I was overcharged, I simply gave up. He simply did not understand. Clearly, the ownership has changed and they simply do not care about whom they hire or the quality of the product they put out. it's all about the money. Do yourself a favor. Do not patronize this food establishment. What once was the best food truck food in Pensacola is now one of the worst.
