Everything was not only fresh, but beautifully presented. They also carried a wonderful selection of local wines
This restaurant is located in a heritage building surrounded by by gardens and they organically grow many of their herbs and vegetables.
Super food, well presented and excellent service. We were amazed that the restaurant was not full The 50 minute journey for us was well worth it - we will do this again
We went for a valetines dinner and the meal was fantasic the service and attention to the customers and very reasonable evening out price wise a nice place to chill out
This is a quite an expensive restaurant without the groupon that I had for a four course dinner for 2. To start off with the atmosphere is very elegant, but only in the dining area, you have to go up a very narrow flight of stairs to go to the bathroom and there it is very visible that it was built in the early 1900's, and in dire, dire need of repairs/upgrades. It started out with an appetizer of a baked crab apple brie with a crispy house cracker.. which was delicious. And here is where it went down hill for me, but not my daughter. Her second course was a roasted gala apple and butternut squash soup with crispy kale and pumpkin seeds. She said it was delicious. I had the Classic Caesar Salad with crispy bacon house croutons. Well I got 3 or 4 quite large uncut leaves of salad with a mystery dressing and why it was a mystery is because i could barely find any! I found myself chewing down dry pieces of lettuce and extremely salty bacon and over salty croutons. The main course once again delicious for my daughter was Herb grilled chicken breast with winter scalloped potatoes. I had the Wine Barrel Smoked Pork Ribs Orchard BBQ Sauce House Winter Slaw Fried Yukon Chips. The rack of ribs was as dry as a bone, gave a piece to my daughter and she said "my God they're dry" I also gave her one of my potato wedges and she commented "Gee they're still raw Mom" Choked my way thru that and hoped dessert would be better, we were looking forward to the Chocolate Mousse Ganache cake...but No it was creme brulee with a sugar crust on that you could lift off thick as a piece of Plexiglas. So why didn't i send all this substandard food back ur probably asking? Well our server was the mother of one of my daughters friends and right or wrong we didn't want to be difficult or make things difficult for her in the kitchen. I have seen it myself in high quality kitchens in my younger working days what "Can" and I only say can happen when a cook is angry with a customer who in my case would have sent first, main, and dessert course back. Let's just leave it at that. When we waited for our coats all seemed to be busy so she opened the closet door and said to find our coats....no problem. My daughter looked up to see this huuuuuge gaping hole in the ceiling with questionable materials hanging down...asbestos? I don't know but it sure looked scary. I struggled with the star ratings as my daughter was very happy with her meals, and I didn't get a single good one except the shared appy. So for me it was average to Poor! and hers was very good, so I guess you Mr/Ms Reader can decide for yourself and see if other reviews are more positive or not.
