Medium heat actually means medium, the spice profile is so profound, the heat does not overpower the spice profile. The curries are all unique and the meat is perfectly cooked so that it shreds but dose not loose structural integrity, which was always a dream i thought could never occur in a curry. We always stop in twice whenever in the vicinity and nothing in my hometown of vancouver, ever compares.
While staying in Penticton we dropped by Lachi for dinner on a Sunday evening. We were seated immediately by a very friendly and helpful staff member. We ordered the Mix Veggie Platter (1/2 order, but lots of food), Dal Makhani, Channa Masala, Jeera Rice, and Peas Pulao. Our server provided recommendations and asked us how spicy we'd like our dishes. <br/ <br/ Our appetizer was delivered quickly and was very good. Another server made sure our waters were refilled often. Our main courses were delivered shortly afterward and were delicious. <br/ <br/ We were unable to finish everything because we had ordered so much food. However, our server had the rest of our food boxed up along with plastic utensils because we were travelling. <br/ <br/ Aside from the food being great, I have to compliment the wonderful service. It was attentive, helpful, and very friendly. Thank you to both of our servers. We will definitely come back to Lachi on our next visit to Penticton. Highly recommended!
What a great place to eat! It is a small place that is tastefully decorated and provides a warm relaxing atmosphere. Cozy without being stifling. <br/ The staff were very welcoming and able to provide suggestions and recommendations for someone with a lack of experience with Indian cuisine. <br/ <br/ The last time I had Indian food I ordered a lamb dish and it was mutton older than I was. Needless to say I was hesitant about trying it again. <br/ I had the Rogan Josh and it was amazing! The lamb was young and tender, the spices were delicious. The rice was not dry like some restaurants have. I know rice is rice but it was good. The naan bread was very fresh and quite tasty. <br/ <br/ Bottom line, I can't wait to go again.
Freakin yummers. Had the veggie samosas and they were some of the tastiest I've ever had. Great balance with spices. The butter chicken was very good, not the best I ever had. The lamb saag was super tasty tho. Best indian food in the Ok area I've had. Highly recommended!
Next Best To Homemade!. I love Indian food but it's very hard to find truly authentic, delicious Indian food around. I've been to all the Indian restaurants in Penticton and Victoria and I can say the majority of them were awful imitations of Indian food. For someone who has spent her life around people from India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Pakistan, I can say nothing ever tops homemade food! However, Lachi restaurant has a fantastic menu with even better quality food! I've been here several times and have never been disappointed! A testament to how good they are is how full the restaurant always is. I was seated at a table for 6 that had 4 other people there because there was no where else to sit. I had no problem, we all had nice conversation and enjoyed our food. : <br/ <br/ I highly recommend this to anyone who wants authentic Indian cuisine where you get large portions for the price you pay. Fantastic!
