Burger Express - Peoria County

Affordable and quick hot food. The burger and fries were satisfying with no complaints. The menu is simple but executed well. It was bustling on a Friday lunchtime, which is a positive indicator.

If I could rate this establishment with zero stars, I absolutely would, as they don't deserve any. The quality of the food pales in comparison to the experience of supporting two of the rudest, most negatively charged individuals you could encounter. Burger Express currently employs mostly young staff, and the owners—a couple—treat their employees horrifically, even resorting to yelling at them in front of customers, creating an awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone in the dining area. It's heartbreaking to see these young people endure such unkind treatment at work every day. My description of their behavior is actually quite generous. Sure, if you're in a bind, you might grab a burger here, but I would recommend spending your money at a place that treats its employees with respect. It's truly disappointing.

Although I live in Chillicothe, I frequently take the quick 10-minute drive south on Route 29 to Burger Express in Mossville for a tasty meal. Their food is made fresh to order and offers a step up from your standard fast food. The burgers are always hot, fresh, and delicious, plus the prices are very reasonable. They also serve excellent chicken sandwiches, a deli club, deli express sandwiches, and hot dogs, including a bacon-wrapped option. I’ve enjoyed the triple cheeseburger, the deli express, and for serious burger enthusiasts, the Quint, which boasts five beef patties and four slices of cheese—absolutely juicy and delicious! The fries are above average and flavorful as well. Additionally, they offer soft serve ice cream, sundaes, waffle cones, and Spinners, their version of a milkshake. If you happen to be in the area, whether you’re driving between Peoria and Chillicothe or commuting to or from CAT, and find yourself hungry, definitely give them a try!

I won't be returning. The secret sauce on the Sweet Chicken sandwich is grape jam. Grape jam on chicken? That just doesn't work for me. Additionally, there are no public restrooms available.

Delicious food at an affordable price! I will definitely return!
