We were told to wait to see if the server was ready, and after waiting for 10 minutes, we decided to leave. It seems like this place will be closing soon if they continue to provide such poor service.
The chef had minimal interaction with us and hardly spoke. The food was overly salty and the scallops had a sour taste. We also did not receive the accompanying sauce for the dish. Despite requesting water multiple times, we never received any. Additionally, the bill was on the expensive side.
In the past, we came several times when it was Osaka P83. Always loved the calm atmosphere, quick service, delicious food and yum yum sauce.Overall, prices are as expected for teppanyaki. Waitress was polite, fast, and thorough. The restaurant wasn’t too busy and we were sat right away. We will go back one more time as long as we have a different Chef. The food was terrible, decent personality and social skills.Aside from the career speech of being a 17 year chef switching from location to location more times than anyone can count, his personality was good. He was educational and creative. The food however, was awful and by far the worst we ever had there. We appreciated the fact he covered the rice to keep it warm while everything else cooked. But he over cooked EVERYTHING. Rice tasted more like rice cakes, vegetables were burnt, chicken was so over cooked it tasted like char, and every steak was well done. Not a single note of pink in the medium rare. The chicken was so burnt and over done it. If I didn’t know better you would have thought it was residue from the grill put on the plate. At the end, James explained how he does private events. After someone asked for a card he said, “glad you asked, I have to wait for you to ask to hand them out now”. On the card was his tipping information and name/photo.We were extremely disappointed in the food quality during this trip. The three stars come from the average of our experience at this restaurant.
I 'm in the business and spotted several critical violations committed by our chef . At the end of the show he handed out his card which includes his contact information for private parties. If I was the owner I would be furious one of my employees was advertising for his private business at work! In addition, the business card has this guys Venmo, CashApp, and Zelle on it. He also had a couple $20s in his tip jar for show, to encourage tips. When we got our bill, there was gratuity included on the bill. And another place to add even more gratuity, even though it was included in the bill. The chef also advertised he had been cooking for 17 years at over 50 restaurants in Arizona. That 's not something you want to advertise. That 's a pretty poor employment record. In addition, the dude was cracking racist jokes regarding American and Chinese. The food was ok. I can make better fried rice at home. The entire show was cheesy and tasteless. Next time we want teppanyaki, we will travel to Scottsdale. It definitely wasn 't worth $95 for two people.
Very disappointing to find out they no longer serve teppanyaki in the regular dinning room you HAVE to eat in the back to order it ..they’re supposedly going through a name change . But the service was horrible servers only seem to attend the back. (Eating in the back means double tip cook/waitress)
