The first mcdonald’s restaurant was opened in 1940 by the brothers maurice “Mac” and richard mcdonald in san bernardino, California. it was originally a drive-in that offered a great selection of articles. in 1948, however, the brothers decided to revise the business, and after a three-month renovation, a newly planned mcdonald’s opened. the small restaurant was designed to produce large amounts of food to low trips. to achieve this, the brothers limited the menu - the only hamburger, kartoffel chips later replaced by fries, drinks and cakes - and developed a simple, efficient format that they use the speedee service system. this included a self-service switch that eliminates the need for waiter and waiter, and customers received their food quickly because hamburger were cooked before the time, wounded and heated under heat lamps. These innovations allowed the brothers to calculate only 15 cent for a basic hamburger, for example half the price of competing restaurants. mcdonalds was a great success, and the brothers started a franchise program.
