We did not understand French but the proprietress had her brother translate the menu for us and they were very patient with us. We loved the food... it was very tasty, flavorful and spicy. We loved the chicken curry, spring roll, the pork with rice !!! They waited after they closed to get us our second helping !!!
My wife and I have been in France for vowel two months and have generally found that restaurants do not always use fresh products. New Saigon certainly did not fit that assumption. We went for lunch on a Wednesday, based in Trip Advisor reviews, and had a set lunch. Wow, what a pleasant surprise! Fresh, tasty, well prepared and presented food with quality we have not found at the prices in France. We were so impressed we went back the following Saturday and ordered off the menu as the set lunch is only through the week. A great duck breast with a wonderful sauce, noodles and rice. The front of house is the son of the two chefs in the kitchen. A real family affair to be very proud of.
A nice little find and not too far off the beaten track either. Simple food with great flavors very reasonably priced. The soup and beef prawn cracker starters really wet the appetite and set us up nicely for a pork and duck main course. Nothing flash, but with a few interesting twists on Asian cuisine, this is well worth a visit.
Searching through Trip Advisor for somewhere to eat in Perpignan I was attracted by the positive reviews. On entering the restaurant at a little after midday I asked the waiter why the place was empty to which he informed me that it was a place where people came to eat in the evenings. I can only assume that this was the reason that I was served dishes that had obviously been reheated. Perhaps the chef was away and the waiter was doubling up and multi-tasking as I cannot believe that the food I was served would have been given such glowing reports by other customers. After all the sunshine and the pleasant ambiance of the town cannot compensate for poor quality food served in an eerily quiet restaurant. Try it in the evening if you want Vietnamese food but don't go at lunchtime.
We went here to have a bite before taking the night train to Paris. It's about ten minutes walk from the train station. We left our luggage in one of the cafe's across the station as the station itself does not offer this service. The food was good, fresh and light and reasonably priced. Was it original Vietnamese? No idea, never been there. The Thai chicken was different from any Thai chicken I ever ate but still very soft and tasty. Don't expect anything fancy. It is just a small, simple place. Overall very satisfied and will come back.
