When my friend paid for the bill, he noticed the amount on the credit card machine was different from the bill, he then raised the question and the waiter acknowleged it was over-charged for £3. We thought it was just a mistake and accident. The next day, after another round of golf, we went to the same bar for drinks and lunch, when we paid for the bill, the credit card machine over-charged us again compared to the bill. The first time can be considered as an accident, but it happened two days in a row, it just made us feel it is a systematic over-charging practise by the staff. Although each time the over charge were small, but it made us feel very un-comfortable to come back to the place again. My Canadian friend was so kind and he didn't request a refund, but my wife who is a Scottish felt very ashamed and let down by the dodge staff at a high end establishment like Gleneagles in Scotland. Gleneagles hotel and the golf club are excellent places for foreign visitors, but some sneaky staff very tarnish the image of the place.
The restaurant made a delicious gin martini and some tasty vodka cocktails as well. They served the best version of masala papad, similar to masala nachos. The restaurant also had a great view of the golf course, creating a fantastic atmosphere to watch football. The service was excellent, although I did have to wait for the rest of my group to finish their round of golf. The restaurant is located in the clubhouse, and I recommend visiting the women's restrooms as well. Overall, a great experience.
I had lunch today at a restaurant after playing golf at Gleneagles. The golf courses were closed due to frost, so it was nice and quiet. We were greeted by the Manager, Hussain, who was a gentleman. We had a lovely seat by the window and ordered Salt and Chilli Squid with Vietnamese dipping sauce, chunky chips with melted cheddar and bacon, and Chilli Dogs. The food was fresh and delicious, and it was served by Ross, who was great. Thanks to everyone for a fantastic lunch.
The hotels own craft lager is unreal! The vibe in this bar in the clubhouse is relaxed and warm. Perfect for watching football in a classy environment.
A classy location for a quiet drink, lovely decor, takes you back to when travel was far more challenging A lovely setting
