I visited this restaurant for lunch on a cold, wet, and windy day. The atmosphere was bright, warm, and the staff were very helpful and friendly, making it easy to order. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place!
We were a group of 6 and all were quite pleased. Good variety. No issues. Service good and very helpful. We enjoyed it. Thank you.
We had booked a table for the pre theatre menu which is a set menu. £17 for 2 courses £25 for 3. We all chose the 2 course option. The starter of tomato stuffed with couscous was dry and tasteless. The Scottish vegetable stew was really just a thick soup with supposedly herb and horseradish dumplings (these turned out to be a true facsimile of Aunt Bessie's dumplings, with not a hint of herbs or horseradish). The cranachan was mainly cream and raspberries with only a hint of oats sprinkled on the top. Certainly not worth £17pp. The service was slow and non existent at times. When we sat down, there were already menus on the table. We sat for a good long while until we caught the attention of a passing waitress whose excuse for not coming to take our order was that she didn't realise we had menus, which begs the question, if she thought we didn't have menus, why didn't she bring them to us? One of the desserts failed to appear and when, again, we drew the attention of a waitress to this, she seemed puzzled and went off to get it. It took at least 10 minutes for it to come minus cutlery which we had to go and get for ourselves. Not the best experience and one we will not be repeating. The upside was that the venue was excellent, it's just a pity the food and staff let it down.
As we were in Perth for the day, shopping, we decided that, as it was around lunchtime, we would go to the Perth Theatre Cafe. We hadn't been in since the theatre had been modernised and we were taken aback by the change. There is much more room than in the old cafe. Now it's set on 3 levels. We were given the menus, and asked what we would like to drink. As it was a hot day, we decided on soft drinks. On looking at the menu, it was difficult to decide what to have. There is even a section for children's meals. We eventually decided on a Tuna Mayonnaise with spring onions sandwich, and a Chicken with Tarragon Mayonnaise sandwich. Both came with side salad coleslaw and were served very nicely on oblong plates. They were very good and we will certainly return the next time we are in Perth. The staff member, Kelsi, was very pleasant and polite.
