Our table was ready, drinks arrived and our delicious food arrived very quickly. The menu is good honest pub grub and the lovely ladies were fabulous- thank you
What can I say? Six months ago this would have been a five star review. Now breakfasts take 40 minutes to cook, and it’s cold when it arrives. Waiting staff always apologetic and helpful but doesn’t make up for long waits and freezing cold food. Not sure why it’s got so bad lately but unlikely to revisit. Much better to go to Sainsbury’s and get your breakfast hot. Such a shame this place has gone downhill.
We had a couple of hours to kill so went to the Fayre Spot before the show. We hadn 't booked a table but the staff found us a small table for just the two of us. We ordered drinks and quickly got to order our food. Whilst we were waiting it gave us time to look at the decor of the place. Dated and tired sprang to mind. From the fake brickwork around the fireplace (you can easily see it 's fake due to the covering peeling off some of the bricks and showing the foam underneath) to the carpet being a little worse for wear. Our food arrived within 15 minutes. I 'd ordered beer batter fish, chips and peas, along with some beer battered onion rings. As I prefer mayo with my chips I asked for some and was given just 3 tiny sachets of it. The food really was disappointing. The peas tasted like they were out of a can and very bland. The chips were exceptionally dry, and the fish was dark and rubbery (normally caused by overcooking, although the thick layer of batter wouldn 't have helped either). More battered than batter. I could only eat about 3/4 of the fish. The onion rings however tasted like they had been cooked by someone else although the batter was quite thick of those as well. My wife 's food was equally as tough and rubbery. After we 'd finished eating I made the mistake of visiting the toilets. Some kind of debris was smeared along the walls which was either squashed flies or possibly something from someone 's nose. Not nice. The toilets are in need of a really good clean and re-painting. The only reason this review got two stars instead of one, was the attitude of the staff. Helpful, courteous, checking we were OK and very prompt service.
Pre theatre dinner. I do not normally eat in these type of restaurants however we had a steak, cooked to perfection well done chef. The waitresses were excellent very attentive and checked everything was ok on numerous occasions. Well done ladies. Management congratulate your staff.
Booked just over 24 hours before the reservation (yesterday afternoon), the man that answered the phone didn't even listen from the get go. I asked to reserve a table of 2 for tomorrow (tonight now) he said fully booked tonight sorry so I corrected him and explained I was looking for the next night he said oh ok yes that booked in. Thought all was well until I arrive at the restaurant to find out that the man on the phone booked us in at the wrong time and the restaurant was not even open tonight and that I had to eat elsewhere. Absolute disgrace which has meant that instead of a hot meal that I had anticipated I had to settle for cold expensive petrol stop food as I did not have time to arrange anything else before the show I was due to see. Not 1 staff member thought to inform us the restaurant was closed in the 24 hours the booking was made! Staff offered no form of compensation or alternative solution. WILL NOT BE RETURNING! DISGUSTING TREATMENT.
