We got there around 4 on Friday and no other guests had arrived yet. I was greeted by Mark who was very welcoming. He showed us to our room and to get settled for the night. The room was gorgeous, it felt like we were back in the 1800's of Europe. They left a complimentary decanter of Cognac out and plenty of board games to keep us entertained. We woke up the next morning to a delicious breakfast. Fresh muffins and fruit, followed by your choice of eggs w/ sides, or their specials of the day. Saturday they served up Apple Pancakes, and Sunday was a cinnamon French Toast. Deni was an absolute delight. She was personable and gave us many good recommendations for activities to do in the area. We followed up breakfast with beautiful fall activities. Once we got back we had reservations for their dinner. The steak and haddock were delicious and the sides were all fresh and full of flavor. They had a great selection of wine, and other beverages. The desserts were just as good. If you are looking for a place to disconnect from the world and enjoy a relaxing get away this is the place for you. My only complaint was I didn't get enough greetings from the fluffy Murray.
Lovely building and rooms. Deni and Mark are great hosts. The food is always on target and good. We have been here before Covid and are happy to be here again. Also, I might add that Murray the greeting dog is a welcomed sight.
It was really nice, the rooms were cozy, food was delicious, it was quiet and relaxing. It was the perfect quick get away from our busy lives to enjoy our anniversary. The sitting had an amazing selection of spirits to purchase and enjoy while playing a nice round of cribbage.
Beautiful atmosphere, peaceful, fantastic food, and wonderful service! Highly recommended!
This review is for a visit to Clamber Hill Inn in late November 2021. We stayed there for a few nights while visiting family in a neighboring town. What appealed to us was the secluded feel of the property. The Inn is approached via a long, tree-lined driveway that takes a deep curve before providing guests a view of a stately home, perched on a knoll and surrounded by second-growth forest. It feels like you’ve stepped into a John Irving novel, or the home of a family that the Preppy Handbook was written about. The owners, Mark and Deni, are friendly and approachable without being insincere or all in your business. Our room was on the 2nd floor and came with the disclosure that it is one room where the Inn’s wireless internet did not work. Wireless didn’t seem much better outside our room. That’s fine. We weren’t there to surf the web (or watch TV . And we had plenty of mobile access to check email. The whiskey in the decanter was a pleasant surprise and the working fireplace was a special treat. The water pressure in our room was pretty weak. The Inn has some c. 1990s(? refurbishments that don’t overshadow the charm of this beautiful, early 20th century home. Breakfast is spot on. The over-easy eggs, thick bacon, and French toast were perfect. Only wish we’d had time to try their dinner. We look forward to staying again and we’d happily stay in the same room.
