I had heard about this place over the years, but never tried it until now. When we walked in and initially were seated, there was an overwhelming odor that I couldn't quite place. It almost seemed like they were pumping in some sort of air freshener maybe to cover any seafood odor that might exist. It was a bit unpleasant to me. The food was delicious and service was great. We ordered: Southwest Spinach Dip: great appetizer with both chips and pita salsa was good, too Crispy Pickles: these were the absolute best fried pickles I've ever had I could not stop eating them Steak Frites: steak cooked exactly how ordered and very flavorful Tilapia Alexander: yummy dish the whipped potatoes were so very smooth and broccoli had a great flavor Catfish Atchafalaya: incredible flavor on the catfish, but the Cajun rice left a lot to be desired Our waiter was great and quick. We were charged for the club sodas ordered, which was shocking since most restaurants don't charge for this bubbly tap water. Overall, good food and service, so we'll likely be back and I'll be dreaming about the fried pickles until then.
So it has been awhile since I've been here but maaaannn I was so disappointed I have to say something. The firecracker shrimp was not what it used to be, it used to be tempura fried, now it's like cornmeal fried and not as good as before. Super disappointed that the recipe changed. The beer battered fish and chips was probably the most disappointing dish I've ever had. They fried it KFC style without any flavor. Like the crust is not what you would expect on a beer battered fish, it had the texture of fried chicken. I ate it because I was pregnant and hungry but MANNNN I really hated it. Y'all CANNOT call that beer battered fish and chips. The service was great but I literally can't get over how bad the food was. Won't be back.
I love this place! The service has always been top notch and while the food isn't super fancy, I've never been disappointed with what I ordered. Super solid choice for reasonable seafood dishes with price points that won't break your wallet. A nice place to come for a nice relaxing dinner/date or come with the family. I quite enjoy this spot
