Now, let's talk about the food—it was absolutely divine! I've never had Italian cuisine this exceptional before. My expectations were definitely exceeded, and I can't wait to return during our next visit to Philadelphia. We kicked things off with a bottle of moscato, and...
Outstanding food! The Chicken Parmigiana is the best I've ever had. The dollar sign might be a bit misleading, as all the dishes are reasonably priced, especially when you take portion sizes into account. The meal quality is excellent. The Italian wine is delicious, with just the right level of dryness. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. A special thank you to Frank for making the evening so enjoyable!
In my opinion, this is the best Italian restaurant in Philadelphia. I've never experienced Italian cuisine quite like this before. Without a doubt, the calamari was the best I've ever tasted. The eggplant and risotto were also exceptional. I highly, highly recommend this restaurant!
Established in 1899, Dante Luigi 's, Corona di Ferro is one of the oldest existing Italian restaurants in the U.S. at nearly 125 years old. Situated in the heart of the Italian Market district, it was once the destination of Italian immigrants arriving in Philadelphia. Unable to speak English, they arrived on the docks with the name of the restaurant written on a scrap of paper and pinned to their lapels. They were given lodging in the upstairs rooms and worked in the restaurant below. Now a 5-star Zagat wonder, and regularly considered the best Italian in the city, they retain the same old school atmosphere and a perfect spot to surprise your favorite peeps for special occasions
