The most creative and innovative eating in philadelphia. one of our favorites!
Amazing dinner with the birthday boy! every dish we had was incredible! from the sun choke, mushroom, lamb speck and coffee oil soup, to the chick and chicken lasagne with chemels sauce and walnut yuzu pesto (licked the plate) to the dry aged duck breast filled with cauliflower, to the cala cala orange panda cotta and achell!
Dishes were inventive and delicious, but portions were very small for the prices. Dishes are served family style, so you need to order 3 dishes per person from the small plate, medium plate, and entree columns on the menu. Highlights were the Deep Fried Duck Leg and pork entrees. The shrimp mousse small plate was too gelatinous, too small a portion for the price and not flavorful a bad choice. Each of our three desserts was terrific: Rocky Road, apple cake covered in chocolate paired with vanilla ice cream, and an orange panna cotta. The room is a large brick box without dividers, making it very noisy. Service was very attentive and knowledgeable. Wines were limited, but cocktail options were abundant. So go if you seek innovative dishes. My wife is not an adventurous eater, so she looked at the menu and wondered what will I find to eat here ? Prepare to spend $75+ per person (before tip), and ask detailed questions about the portion size and preparation for each dish. I enjoyed the meal, but not enough to return. If not for the great desserts, I would have left hungry.
Can’t decide who’s #1 in Philly or the country but Serpico is one of the best.
