The Tavern - Phoenix

I have a strong affection for this place and with the addition of a full bar, it has become even more enjoyable.

The food servings were too small. The gnudi was overly dense. The chile verde lacked proper seasoning and could be thicker in consistency.

The server and manager were excellent. Although there was a small issue, they went above and beyond to address it and we are excited to visit again. This is our favorite restaurant in town.

I was disappointed with my recent experience at Chef Tarbell's restaurant. The food and service were just okay, not up to the usual standard I have come to expect. My last visit was amazing, receiving 5 stars. I plan to return in the future, but probably not on a special occasion like Valentine's Day.

My first visit to The Tavern was a delightful experience. What stood out most was the unique option to pick out a bottle of wine from their shop at regular prices and enjoy it with your meal. We tried the ceviche which was delicious, along with the grilled cheese and tomato soup, and the lobster roll, all of which were bursting with fantastic flavors despite their simplicity. The food didn't have to be fancy to be special, and these dishes were definitely special. Our server was outstanding. While the outdoor seating was nice, I personally prefer a more scenic setting than the sidewalk. Nevertheless, I would gladly dine outside at The Tavern again for their excellent food and reasonably priced wines. We will definitely be returning soon!
