We were so pleased to find that this little gem is still open - tucked away on a side road near Canberra Airport, and with plenty of off-street parking. Great wine list [we had a French rose] and a menu that reflects seasonal produce: 2 courses for $50 each or 3 for $65 - great value. I had a goat cheese mousse and a sweet potato dauphinoise slice garnished with roasted Jerusalem artichokes and hazelnuts. My partner had the fabulous confit of duck entree followed by pork jowl - unexpectedly rich and full of flavour. Generous servings, beautifully plated and delivered with a smile [and a gorgeous French accent]. No room for dessert sadly - and they sounded just marvelous. Good café latte to round off. We will be back I know.
Well isn't this a hidden gem!!!! I love Piallago, it's like driving to the country but in Canberra. You turn in then & it's like a little getaway - s hidden treasure. Other places I've been to here have been lovely garden cafes, I thought Pod food was too but it's a more than that, a little bit fancy & quite intimate too. The menu isn't huge; 4 mains & 2 sides & 5 course degustation, not to mention dessert, wine & beautiful smooth coffee. I chose the vegetarian main & loved the Jerusalem artichokes. My fave was definitely the sides garlic & rock salt potatoes & broccoli & Brussel sprouts with bacon. My friend had the trout & loved it. It was little more pricey than I had expected but well worth it. DELICIOUS I will absolutely come again - maybe dinner with someone special.
I have only ever been to pod food with friends, and it makes a great relaxed place to come with friend for a nice breakfast or lunch. I recently went to Pod Food for a 4 course truffle breakfast as part of the Canberra truffle festival. It was great! The set menu was 2 sweet courses and 2 savoury - my only comment is perhaps for breakfast 3 savoury and 1 sweet would have been enough.... and for the matching beverages I would have liked to see a glass of champagne.I like that it is a little out of the way, and surrounded by nurseries.
Great opportunity for a relaxed country lunch with refined food and a glass of decent wine.we have experienced a three course lunch with a complimentary chef's appetiser and enjoyed every dish. If we are around there area - I would go there again.
