The Gatehouse - Pickens

The food at this restaurant is consistently excellent and offers a great value. It's like a hidden gem in Pickens, and I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area.

Ms. Debbie took excellent care of us. We are grateful for her hospitality. The food was delicious, with the collard greens and fried okra standing out as my personal favorites.

I started coming to this restaurant a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. There are not many places to get a good steak in Pickens, which is what initially drew me to The Gatehouse. However, my recent experiences have not been as great. The last time I went, I ordered the ribeye as usual, but was surprised to find out that the prices had gone up and my total was $40 for just one steak! Despite the price increase, the steak was small and cooked poorly - it seemed more like a boiled steak than a properly seared one. If prices are going to be that high, the quality of the food needs to be up to par as well. I would not pay that much again for the disappointing meal that I received.

Great place for a meat 3! They also have a rotating special menu, my favorite is the smokehouse addition. ???????? Very kind staff!

The hostess/server was nice, really nice and provided great service, the food wasn't super impressive...but not super terrible. The steak was nooooot worth it. It was paper thin and very over cooked. And my potato was hard as a rock and not cooked enough. Our friends said the Mac and cheese and bread was good. One friend said the meat was dry and one person in our party said his stacker sandwich was amazing but the fries were soggy. So it seems like a hit or miss type of place. I would try again to see what a second experience would be like.
