Fat Tony's - Pictou

We decided to give Fat Tony's another shot after hearing some positive feedback about the recent changes in staffing and management. I'm happy to report that we were really pleased with our visit. The service was outstanding, thanks to Kristy, and the food was excellent, especially the Philly beef dip. The new decor is beautiful—warm and inviting—much better than the sterile, fishbowl atmosphere it had before. We would love to see some table service available after the kitchen closes; if that happens, we’ll likely return for the nightly entertainment. If you've had a negative experience in the past, I encourage you to give this new team a chance.

Fat Tony's has been a favorite of mine since we first moved to Pictou over a year ago during Thanksgiving weekend. At the time, we were surrounded by boxes and couldn't even think about having another slice of pizza! One rainy day, we ventured out into our new town and discovered Fat Tony’s, which became our first real meal here—and I was immediately hooked! My absolute favorite dish was the fish, along with this salad (I can’t recall the name) featuring beets and goat cheese. I'm really sad that my salad is no longer on the menu, but I still love dining here. The food is fantastic, and the people are wonderful. Now I'm feeling hungry just thinking about it! It’s hard to find a restaurant around here with a salad other than Caesar, garden, or Greek. I truly hope you'll consider bringing back the salad I miss so much. Keep up the great work!

I enjoyed the unique views from the patio, and the flower pot lights added a charming rustic touch. Fortunately, it was a quiet afternoon, and the service was prompt. The menu prices were affordable, and I found the clubhouse sandwich (ordered with cranberry sauce and as a double decker) to be quite decent. However, I was a bit disappointed that the fried pepperoni appetizer was slightly overcooked and dry. Overall, it was a refreshing change of scenery with large open spaces and pool tables.

The main course was mediocre. The beer was flat, and the coleslaw tasted spoiled and was served warm. The server and owner were indifferent and did not adjust the bill. I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
