Alta Via - Pittsburgh

Our meal was great. We were celebrating a long overdue friends get together. We split a number of appetizers including our favorite: the Brussels Sprouts. The beans and greens are super creamy and the pesto on them is a great touch. Everything we ate was superb but the star of the evening was definitely the roast chicken. It is so moist and tender, and served on the most wonderful smashed/roasted/Parmesan potatoes. The accompanying piccata sauce is a perfect accompaniment. Service was excellent, the drinks were tasty and our experience overall was outstanding.

Delicious birthday dinner at Alta Via. Husband and I shared the Brussels sprout salad, one of our favorites. The focaccia was served with butter and olive oil and salt. Husband had the pappardelle and I had the squid ink fettuccine with rock shrimp, spinach and tomatoes. The 1/2 order of pappardelle was plentiful. I I ordered a full order of fettuccine with hopes to have the left overs for lunch. It was delicious with plenty of shrimp. However, 6 hours later I was sick. Assume it was the shrimp so will not be eating the leftovers. However, will definitely order this item off the menu again as it was delicious. Contaminated seafood is a growing problem in the US. Finished off the meal with olive oil cake which was served with a birthday candle. Hannah, our waitress was what everyone wants in a waitress. Communicative, explaining the different entrees when asked, making recommendation, checking back often but not being intrusive. Alta Via is lucky to have Hannah.

Had dinner for 2 the service was good and food was excellent.

As usual, our experience at the restaurant was excellent. Food is outstanding and service was good. We’ll be back! Wonderful meal!

I grew up in NYC in a restaurant family. One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to outside of the city. Fritti misti and grilled artichokes were superb. Butternut squash ravioli and the lumache Bolognese were perfectly prepared. The wine list is creative. And our server was outstanding. Can’t wait until we find ourselves back in the Pittsburgh area.
