Central Diner And Grille - Pittsburgh

I had an early dinner at this diner, and I have to say it was much nicer than most diners I've been to. The waitress was very friendly and quickly took our order. She also brought out our food in a timely manner. However, we did have to wait a bit at the end of the meal due to a mix-up with our bill, which accidentally got exchanged with another table's. As a result, we ended up paying for each other's meals, but they were all similarly priced. My husband and I ordered a salad, crab-stuffed mushrooms, scallops, broccoli, French onion soup, pasta, and chicken parmigiana. Everything was fresh and the portion sizes were generous.

We enjoyed a fantastic dinner. I ordered the roasted pork leg with the bone in, while my wife had the prime rib accompanied by two stuffed mushrooms filled with crab meat. Both of our meals came with a salad. My pork was incredibly tender and flavorful. We also each enjoyed a cocktail, making for a wonderful evening overall.

I've traveled to five states in the past month and a half for business, and this restaurant was definitely one of the best I've experienced. The food was of excellent quality, the staff was fantastic, and the service was superb. If I find myself in this state again and nearby, I will definitely return for another meal. One of our favorite repeat restaurants in the Pittsburgh area. We have always had great service and yummy food with generous portions. The prices are reasonable. We fed six adults for under $100 and we’re too full to order a delicious slice of the amazing cakes.

This was our second visit to Central Diner and Grille. Both experiences offered the very best in service and incredibly flavorful dishes. So… why four stars and not five? Well, on our most recent visit, a nicely-dressed (professional) lady… perhaps the manager or owner… stopped to ask us if we were enjoying our meal and when we were pleased to tell her how wonderful everything was… she didn’t even remain at the table to listen and abruptly walked away while we were trying to have a nice conversation. She was very rude. Why did she bother to ask? She kind of ruined the nice meal we were enjoying. When paying our bill at the cash register, the same person was also impatient and unfriendly (again… very rude). That person isn’t going to keep us from returning. The food and servers are too good. We will be back!!! Hopefully the grouchy manager will be enjoying her day off elsewhere.
