The food, the service, the owner and staff. We had such a wonderful dinner there. A real gem! BYOB and go there! We loved it!
We dined May 5, 2022. My destination dining experience was at Plated conveniently near several South Hills malls. This is a fairly new place with ample parking and about 12 tables. The chefs offer local farm raised meat (when available) and wild caught trout (from the Snake River), mussels and shrimp (flown in from the USA south coast), foraged mushrooms. The food is delicious!, My friends had pork tenderloin and a sriracha pork chop and I had a mild Thai Shrimp the star of our evening tasting. Dessert included a caramel gelato. It's BYOB with no cork fee. Open Wed~Sun 4 t0 9 PM. The service is a bit casual. So I give Plated 4.5 stars.
We are always in search of a quality and creative restaurant in the South Hills. I think we found that in Plated Pgh! It was our first time dining here and the food was exceptional. Loved the trout and small plate of mussels. The fact that it is a BYOB restaurant was a bonus. It is a small place with only about 10 tables but it is lively and non-pretentious. We will definitely be back as I'm already craving the trout!
We used to dine here frequently when it was Slate Bistro. Decided to try the new Plated several weeks ago. Prices have gone up somewhat but have everywhere. Food is on the creative side, but some portions are a little smaller, especially the appetizers. Suggest when the waiter informs you of the daily specials you ask the price. Several at our table ordered the Day Boat Scallops on grits which were ok. A half dozen med sized scallops on a rather mushy but tasty mound of grits. The charge? 52.00 per plate! Higher than anywhere else I know of including downtown Pittsburgh 5 star restaurants. Catch me once.....might not see me again.
