We were seated within minutes after arriving, as we got there early, before lunchtime. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I enjoyed a delicious Reuben sandwich with fries, while others in my group ordered the Big Bad Bacon Burger and a chicken wrap, both of which were also quite tasty. Our waitress, Cameryn, was friendly, efficient, and attentive. I’m giving this review 4 stars because I need clarification on their policy regarding gift certificates. I had six $5 certificates that I wanted to use towards my order, but the cashier informed me that only one could be applied. This response was unsatisfactory, and I plan to speak with a manager for further clarification since it wasn’t clear how the certificates work. As a follow-up on March 28, 2022, I finally had a productive conversation with a manager who actually reads these Google reviews! The manager reached out to clarify the use of gift certificates. I learned that I could have applied all my gift certificates during my first visit. It turns out that there were several new employees at Country Kitchen who were not aware of the correct procedures regarding gift certificate payments. The manager assured me that now all staff are informed that multiple certificates can be used towards a bill. Thank you!
On our way from Iowa to the Dells, we needed a lunch stop, and my kids love having breakfast at any time of day. So, we decided to stop here. The staff was friendly, and my burger was decent—nothing extraordinary, but it’s a diner, not a gourmet burger place. My son really enjoyed his pancakes and fries. I know it sounds a bit odd to combine those, but it worked out since my two-year-old didn't eat what we ordered for them and ended up just having his fries instead. She was probably just tired from being in the car for so long. My mother ordered the biscuits and gravy and liked it as well. Overall, it was a good diner experience.
We arrived on Tuesday at about 1:45 PM and were seated right away. However, by 2:07 PM, we still hadn’t even received a glass of water or been asked to place our order. We decided to head next door to a nearby Mexican restaurant instead.
Delicious!!! This restaurant is fantastic! I can't wait to return and sample some of their pie!
Once we were seated, they took our order promptly, and we received our drinks. After that, we waited nearly an hour for our food, but nobody came to refill our coffee. Meanwhile, we noticed five tables ahead of us had already received their meals and drink refills, including a larger party of six that had been seated 15 minutes after us. After seeing that, we waited an additional 15 minutes, bringing our total wait time to an hour and a half with no food in sight. When we decided to leave, we planned to pay only for what we had received – the coffee and some orange juice. Unfortunately, two staff members at the register were quite rude, insisting that we pay the full bill despite not receiving our meals after nearly two hours. The service was absolutely dreadful, though I can't complain about the restaurant's atmosphere, which was very nice and homey. On a positive note, the management handled the situation professionally and was understanding, ultimately allowing us to leave without paying for the full bill. I did not ask for names, nor do I wish to name anyone online. I truly appreciate how professional the management was. While we won’t be returning, I don’t think Country Kitchen is a bad place overall. I understand that sometimes mishaps happen in restaurants, and what we experienced may not reflect everyone’s experience. I'm sure it could still be a great spot for other customers. Our visit was just unfortunate, and again, I thank the management for their professionalism and understanding.
