I also saw the risotto. they were not so busy, which was surprising given the food quality, we thought it was appropriate for dinner and a modern interieur. the chef came out twice to talk to us- I would go back in a definitiw!
We were greeted by owner Massimo. The restaurant is just off the main strip of 5th Av so it isn 't as visible nor busy...but don 't let the lack of a crowd fool you. We had the Salmon Gnocchi in a rosé sauce...it was delicious. We...also had the mixed seafood pasta. This dish had an extremely tasty sauce but I found the shrimps (served whole in the shell) were too 'fishy ' tasting. As well this dish was served in foil which was not very appealing. We will re-visit Massimo 's but wouldn 't order the seafood pasta again. One other thing...the bread (with course salt) is addictive! This is a good resto.
Fantastic Italian meal, probably the best of its type in Playa. Attentive service, great flavours. If the wine had been perfect, the experience would have rated 5*s. Everything else was top class.
Decided to try Massimo's after seeing great reviews for it in tripadvisor, so glad we did! It's a beautiful restaurant, right off 5th ave, the service was great and the food was even better. It could possible be one of the best Italian meals the...wife and I ever had in a restaurant. We were very impressed. The chef Massimo even accommodated a special request my wife had for a blue cheese sauce for her gnocchi, and wow it was delicious! We cant wait to return next March and visit Massimo's again.
We tried Casa Massimo 's on our last night at PDC. We ordered the lobster ravioli, a pasta for our child, and chicken tagliatele (or something like it); we also ordered a caprese salad for an appetizer that never came, instead we got crab cakes that...I 'm sure I didn 't order but the waiter mentioned them and I said that sounds good , but then he decided that 's what we had ordered. So, with regards to the food, the crab cakes were good on the inside but a little too fried on the outside for our taste (like they 're fried at too high of a temperature). The lobster ravioli was our least favorite dish, the pasta was too al dente so it was hard and chewy, the filling was OK but not amazing either, however the sauce was really tasty. The chicken pasta dish was the best one overall, and believe it or not, our child 's pasta was really really good. I believe these last 2 dishes is what earned them the 4 stars in this review. Everything we got they put this pink sauce that we assume to be a mix between marinara and cream-based sauce, it was really delicious but maybe it 'd have been nice to try a different flavor. To end, we ordered the chocolate souffle which was actually delicious, it took like 20 min to come (they claim everything is done fresh), but it was really tasty. Other than that, the service was attentive but I felt he was pushing dishes on us, didn 't get the appetizer that we wanted and instead brought what he wanted to hear us order (my guess), and got us all the dishes with the same sauce. Would we go back? Maybe so, we had other way worse experiences with restaurants in PDC as to completely dismiss this place.
