99 Ranch Market - Pleasanton

This 99 Ranch Market is more orderly than most other stores, making it easy to shop safely without the crowds.

The prices are reasonable and there is a great variety of Asian dishes to choose from. However, the hot food was a letdown - it lacked flavor and the ingredients didn't taste fresh.

I visited a Ranch 99 branch and was disappointed when the cashier changed the price on a product without informing me. The cashier replaced the original label with a higher price and when questioned, claimed she couldn't scan the old label. The final price was 25 times more than what I expected. In the US, stores are required to honor the displayed price. Despite my request for the original price, the cashier insisted I pay the inflated amount or leave empty-handed.

Loves this Asian food shop! the load is clean and does not have the smell that many Asian shops have. they have a large meat lot with well prepared packed meats. they also have a seafood section that is complete with live seafood such as silver carp and dungeness crabs. they clean and cook (fried or steam) their fish. the veggie section is clean and organized, with most products packed in bags or cellophane. there is also a hot Chinese deli with a large selection of foods, including dim-sum favorites, fry pork, roast chicken, roast roasted duck, and stir fry dishes. a bakery is also available and serves many different Asian bakeries. this is a fantastic food shop!

I enjoy going to Ranch, but I'm a little off kilter because I love to shop for groceries. If you like to cook legit asian cuisines, this place does not disappoint. Note, many items do not have English translations, but not a problem if you have patience and know what you're looking for. So many good things here and reasonably priced although I do find I cannot do all my weekly grocery shopping here. But between farmers market, Safeway and Ranch, I'm here at least twice a month for a solid three bags of items each visit. And always fun to get the deli coupons at check out so get to drive home with some tasty warm snacks!
