The chef, Jai, is one of the most talented I've ever met. Authentic Malaysian food, esp Penang food, is very hard to cook. Even getting a single dish exactly right is an achievement. It is amazing that Curry Leaves Bistro has so many great dishes from my culture. It is also very cool that on special occasions, there are other less common dishes that are in the special menu. This is a mom and pop operation. We don't mind the casual atmosphere. It is more authentic because we Malaysians are warm and helpful people and we just want our good food, good friends to be around!Really appreciate your existence. It has been great that whenever I miss home, I can just pop over to Pleasanton for a fix, even if it is an hour drive away!
Horrible service. Don’t make the mistake of doing sit down dinner here. You will be disappointed. Cleanliness is sub par. Folks are slow like a sloth.
Order at the counter, take a number, and wait for your food to arrive type of place. Line can be very slow moving and long.Food was mixed Nasi Lemak and roti dishes ordered were delicious. Spring rolls were cold in the center. We sent them back and received new spring rolls that were now luke warm in the middle. Stir fried noodle dish came out very very salty. When it’s busy, it can be chaotic. Orders can be cooked way out of order. People having ordered later in line receiving their food first (same dishes).Nice family run place though which we will always support.
Great authentic Penang dishes. Generous portions. Satay, nasi kandar, char kueh tiau, all fabulous. Chef Jai grew up in Penang. He will tell you stories! Fun place to eat. We go back often.
