So far in less than a year, the price has gone from £24 to £28 to now £31.70. I know prices have gone up, so has the cost of living too but seriously that's a ridiculous price for a meal for two people now more so for a takeaway. £7.45 to now £8.55 for a Kurma and £7.95 to now £9.15 for Tikka Massala and £2.95 to now £3.35 for Pilau Rice...plus not only has the prices gone up, the dishes they came in are HALF the size now, so your getting LESS for your money and it's MORE expensive...absolutely shocking. Shame, as we loved the food from there but WON'T be ordering again, ever...not at those prices.
Constantly brilliant! We have ordered a few times (since the new 5 star food hygiene review in summer) and every time the food tastes incredible. The name 'Spice Merchant ' seems so appropriate, as the amazing flavors of each dish has used as a result of spices, instead of just throwing lots of sugar and salt in the dishes to get taste like most places. My favorite dish must be King Bhuna! I have tried many Indian refugees in Plymouth and Southwest (possibly too many), and this place is by far my favorite. Another little touch I like is that everything doesn't look as artificial as some places. I really find it repulsive when the minzyogurt sees more nuclear waste because it is so green, and the other dishes are also bright colors, while here it seems as if there are only the spices that give the food their color. Nothing seems to swim in the oil, either unlike some places. The only negative I can think about is that the chicken ktikka starter is sometimes a bit dry, although the taste makes for it. I wonder if the chicken is at least partially precooked because the food is always very fast ready. Nevertheless, we will definitely be again many times!
For the first time ordered to eat at home and it was fantastic, everything was hot and spot on for quality, small pots of sauce for big touch and tiny salad bowl. Very happy customer def back yum yum yum
The best tasting and consistent curry we had in Plymouth, and have used it for 7 years. Very recommended and comparatively also a great price!
First, and last, time using this takeaway. Food arrived fairly quickly and was hot. The mixed starter not too bad but the two curries ordered lacked flavour were oily and the lamb was tough as old boots. Had to bin so an expensive mistake!
