It may be a bit rough around the edges but this adds to its charm. We have been here on a few occasions as we visit the area regularly. Once when we called in, there was a retirement do for one of the locals who worked at the dockyard. We were made to feel very welcome and included in the local banter. On another occasion, there was a wake again everyone was extremely hospitable. We got chatting to the ex husband of the woman who’d died, he was there with his new wife, both very well oiled and tattooed he said that although he couldn’t stand his ex, he still wanted to give her a good send off! I have been to many pubs over the years, but I will not forget this one long may it last.
This is place a real eye opener on a busy afternoon or evening. It has a lot of charm. It reminds me of pubs when I was a child. The sort of place you might have seen on a TV play or a soap, years ago. There's usually a lot of banter going on both staff and customers. Elderly alcoholics sway on stools, threatening to jettison their false teeth mid conversation. Spilled drinks are the norm. There's usually the odd scarfaced criminal type who is generous but from whom you would shy at buying a used car. Barmaids are often dressed in the traditional manner, causing old men's eyes to pop out. The language can be as colourful as the Indian food on curry night. I have seen customers have a drink in the afternoon, then go and have a sleep in their ageing camper van parked outside, before returning for the evening session. Long may this pub last. It is a gem and something of a sociologist's dream!
A small local pub by the Cremyll Ferry. We were greeted by a very large but friendly dog. Friendly barman and beer kept well.
I hadn't been to this restaurant in a while, but I had a good time playing darts and pool and enjoying a few gin and tonics. It was a fun afternoon of gaming entertainment. The pub has a vintage feel and the staff are friendly.
Missed the ferry so had 1/2 hour to kill so decided to have drink. Apart from us 3 only 1 other in there. A real old fashioned pub but cosy and staff were really friendly. Would call in again if waiting for ferry as drinks very reasonable.
