The food was delicious and well-prepared, and there were no long waits. We will definitely be returning in the future!
We were in Polzeath for a week and decided to dine at the Crisp Crabs. The setting is superb with views of the sky, sea, and surf. The only thing missing was the sun, but that's Cornwall for you. The decor is relaxed, colorful, and friendly. We started with popcorn shrimp and then had a cassoulet of scallops, beans, and chorizo. The food was good but on the expensive side. After a great meal, we walked down the cliff back to Polzeath beach. We will definitely be returning.
We had a fantastic birthday dinner at this restaurant and we can't wait to return. We parked for free on the beach after 4 o'clock and followed the signs along the coastal path, which was a quick 5-minute walk on flat ground. Cracking Crab has a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and the decor reminded us of a recent trip to San Francisco with all the crab decorations. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the service was just right - not too rushed, just perfect timing. This is our new favorite spot, if you have the chance, definitely check it out.
Took two friends out for a treat not knowing what to expect. Poor start as had to pay £4 to park, greeted well and surprised by the decor, which is a glorified cafe and sat in uncomfortable chairs and ordered drinks which were extortionate but looked forward to our meals. This was also a great disappointment, although tasted nice but meagre portions for the price, especially as we shared a small dish of vegetables for four. My dessert was a chocolate orange cheese cake with alcohol in a tiny glass jar priced £6.95, this was merely a biscuit base with whipped cream of no flavour topped with Chocolate sauce. The prices are Al A Carte without the experience, we are locals and we'll never go back again as we felt totally ripped off.
I went to the Cracking Crab twice during the Easter holidays. Both times I had my two children (5 and 8 with me. The first visit was just me and them and the second time I also had two friends with me. The setting is just beautiful. We sat right next to the window on our first visit and saw the sun go down. On our second visit we were in one of the booths but still could see the view of the beach very well. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and make my children and I feel very welcome. We try and book the earliest table we can for dinner when we have the kids with us to avoid tiredness (the children! and enhance the experience for all of us. I have also been lucky enough to go sans children with my husband on a few occasions and have had some lovely, intimate dinners at table number 1! I love seafood and wine and both are very good here. Can't wait to go back in the summer!
