We arrived on Thursday in the early afternoon for lunch and had the place for us. We ordered 2 breakfasts (bacon, 2 eggs, toast, house owners) and coffee. we sat inside because the tables were surrounded by mosquitoes because of the season. that was personal. very friendly and the meals were good. this is a unique place and worth a visit from time to time. the inside seats are limited to 8 people, but the outside seats have been extended to offer more people.
During the summer, we visited Nanabush three times and had a great experience each time. The first two visits, we sat on the deck outside the café and enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air. However, yesterday it had started to cool down so we sat inside. Nanabush is closing this Thursday for the season and will reopen early next year. We both ordered the breakfast special which included speck, hash browns, toast, eggs, and coffee on the side. Breakfast costs $7.50 each and coffee is an extra $1.75 for standard coffee. They also have a variety of other coffee options like espresso or lattes. Their menu mainly consists of small plates and paninis. My spouse particularly enjoyed the Montreal smoked meat panini during our previous visit. The service was friendly during all of our visits. The breakfasts were delicious and freshly prepared. The café was busy with customers who all seemed to be enjoying themselves. The servers were also the chefs and mentioned that they are going back to school with hopes to return to Nanabush next year. We wish them the best and cannot wait for Nanabush to reopen next spring.
I recently discovered a hidden gem in the Ottawa Valley - a restaurant where our server, Jordan, was also the chef. I was delighted to try their delicious vegetarian crepe and pickerel crepe. The food was fantastic and the service was friendly, professional, and efficient. Unfortunately, the restaurant is only open seasonally and will be closing on September 15, 2016. I am already looking forward to returning in 2017 for more of their amazing crepes.
What a great addition to the small town swisha, directly opposite and high of deep river. (yes, the right name is Rapides-des-Joachims, but my man has grown up here and trust me, it is swisha.) we kept from a week at the river on the way home. Amazing eating, acceptable and well prepared. we had cappuccinos, veggie crepes, an even and gf crepe for the celiac in our group. fresh green salad on the side. beautiful location, next to the river and its canu shop.
