We stopped here by chance, looking for somewhere else completely, but returned several times to sit outside (in November) and enjoy a coffee and snack. Lovely welcome from host, super coffee and good value for money. Also a lovely spot to sit by the sea. The inside areas looked intriguing setting up for Halloween one day we visited we didn't have meals here but will certainly return there when we visit again later this year and probably sample a larger meal.
Boca da Furna is a fairly large cafe inside and sits at the foot of the steps to a Miradouro, a viewpoint overlooking the rock and village called Rosto do Cão. It is a locals' cafe which is a good place to stop if you are travelling by foot or otherwise) along the coast east of Ponta Delgada. I had a small bottle of Kima Maracuja a tasty drink of passion fruit juice), a 0.33L bottle of Cerveja Sagres a national Portuguese beer), both of which cost €1.00 each, and a Prego do Pao €3.00). The sandwich contained several cloves of garlic as well as the steak. Advertisements included a Karaoke session and the fact that the cafe has been open for 10 years. There is a sort of a terrace outside under a canopy of tarpaulin or whatever. I thought that would have been sufficient for smokers, but people lit up inside the cafe itself, including a member of staff at one stage.
Grande festao parabens!
Nunca estive lá lol
