A Carvalheira - Ponte de Lima

Recommended by the Michelin Guide, this restaurant is inserted into a beautiful and huge estate in the middle of the countryside. The food is great and, like in most restaurants in the north of Portugal, the portions are huge. The wine list is really good, the staff is super friendly and the service is actually fast for this kind of restaurant. The parking is a bit... chaotic and anarchic. And the GPS might trick you when leading you to the restaurant because on one of two roads that takes you there, you better have an SUV or a 4x4. Other wise... it's going to get bumpy. Even so... definitely recommended and will come back, for sure.

The food was amazing. We went there to dine on a cold December day and right at the entrance we get greeted by a good old large fireplace warming us right away. All the atmosphere reminds us of ours grandfather’s house, warm and cozy. The staff is always there to help us. Although it may seem a bit pricey, the food is of good quality and the portions are enough. For sure you won’t leave feeling hungry. A place to return for sure.

Everything good, I just find that 18€ for the octopus starter is way to expensive. Also the living room could have some background music :
