However, after waiting about five minutes without being greeted, I approached the register and asked if I could be seated. The guy was friendly and showed me to a table. The atmosphere was kind of dark and uninviting, but the menu had some decent options. I wanted tacos but ended up ordering the Speedy Gonzalez instead, which included one taco, a burrito with refried beans, and Mexican rice. When the food arrived, it was tasty and just enough to satisfy my hunger. I really enjoyed the beef tacos here, and overall, it was a decent meal. That said, the service was quite slow. My server was nice enough, but she didn’t seem to be in any rush, and it felt like the hostess was also missing in action. I can think of at least two other Mexican restaurants in the area that offer better food, service, and prices. I think I’ll choose one of those places next time.
The chips and salsa took far too long to arrive at our table, and we constantly found ourselves running out of them or waiting for water. The food took over an hour to arrive after we ordered, which says a lot about the overall experience. When the food finally came, it was just average in flavor and portion size—nothing special that would make the trip worth it. As for the ambiance, it felt like one of those noisy, run-down Mexican restaurants you find along a highway. The dim lighting and furniture seemed to be in disrepair. I understand it's a family-run establishment, but still, I expected something more that would enhance our experience. I genuinely hope they improve for future visits.
We ordered two Cokes and two meals, and while the meals arrived, we never received our drinks, the bill, or any follow-up from our waitress. Eventually, we decided to go to the register to pay. When the waitress rang us up for the Cokes, we mentioned we hadn't received them, and her response was simply, "Oh, hmmm," instead of offering a more appropriate apology. In that moment, it felt like we reached an unspoken agreement: I would leave without tipping her and wouldn’t return, while she would avoid confronting the fact that she wasn't very good at her job or attentive to customers.
Best Authentic Mexican restaurant we've found since moving to the area almost 4 years ago. Well worth the 30 minute drive from Macomb. Great server Fatima answered many questions we had. Authentic Coca Cola bottled in Mexico. Chips were fresh and the salsa was perfect, with a little heat, not overpowering. The pollo mazatlan was AMAZING: grilled chicken, shrimp, and a variety of vegetables spiced to perfection matched up with corn tortillas. My husband couldn't say enough about his chicken chimichangas. We will be back...Soon!!
Half of this place is a convenience store, the other half is a small restaurant. I stopped here while my watch was getting a new battery at jewelry store nearby. The food here is touch and go. Some of the tacos I order were great. Some were more on the dry and chewy side (steak taco). It's a better menu than most other mexican restaurants and they have several locations, so its worth a look if you want a legit taco or burrito.
