Carpaccio Ristorante - Pontivy

The ambience was nice. Service too, but the food was terrible. My fish had clearly been refrozen a couple of times. As a result not much taste. Chewy. And skin they could no monger be separated from the meat. The vegetables were overcooked to the point that they had no taste and no texture. My wife ordered duck a l'Orange but that's not what she was served. It seemed to be some kind of duck confiet that had been reheated to the point of having little taste of whatever it was supposed to be. Our excellent desserts did not make up for incredibly bad main courses. We were there on a Monday so maybe the chef took that day off and the dishwasher did the cooking. Or maybe it was some kind of a joke on English customers (we're not English but are assumed as such because of our North American French accents). Whatever, it was easily the worst meal we have had in 13 years of living and dining out in France.

I come to France 2 or 3 times a year to visit my husband's family - I love coming here. The staff are absolutely lovely. The service has always been attentive but not intrusive. The food is amazing - very generous portions and presented well. My French is not particularly very good but I always get a warm welcome when I come here. I would recommend popping in because it is somewhere to come as a family or as a couple. Thank you to all the staff and the management -you are doing a fabulous job. Well done - don't change a thing.

We have been coming to Il Carpaccio for several years. Probably twice every three weeks. Occasionally we try other restaurants in town but none have a better all round appeal. It is some way from the town centre and has to rely on reputation rather than passing trade. Our only experience has been at lunchtime and the following observations may not apply to the evening service nor indeed to Sunday's lunchtime trade. The restaurant is consistently busy every weekday, in winter the upstairs dining room is brought into use as necessary, in summer the terrace is very popular. The bulk of the clientele is local, relatively young and in business. A corollary is that they are given preference for service as their time is limited as opposed to retirees and holidaymakers. That said, when we have had, for example, an appointment soon after lunch and made the staff aware of this we too have had the benefit of accelerated service. The menu du jour normally offers a choice of a meat or a fish dish. If neither appeals there is a great range a la carte including vegetarian options, not that common here in Brittany. We have eaten from most sections of the carte and rarely been disappointed. When we have had an issue a word to one of the staff or the patron/patronne has resolved the matter. The front of house staff are friendly and professional, and most have been employed here for several years. The kitchen team are consistent and if there is a fault it is over generous portions. Probably better suited to their younger clientèle than to us!! For that reason we tend to confine ourselves to a main course. Together with a kir, a glass of excellent wine, and a good coffee apiece we enjoy an excellent lunch, with good service in a pleasant ambiance for less than 25 euros each. What's not to like!!!!

Visited with a classic car club and was warmly received. The food and service were excellent. Franck speaks good English, so if you don't speak French he will be glad to help you out with anything that you don't understand. If you are into fast cars, especially Porsches, he will be your friend for life!

Medium budget Italian restaurant with quality food. Pleasing décor downstairs although upstairs can be stifling in summer. Plenty of seating outside under awnings for the good weather. Their main course salads are excellent and generous. I go here quite often with clubs I belong to and as an individual.
