I loved this place. I was on a road trip driving through Tupelo on my way to Birmingham and found myself at Aunt B's through a Yelp search. I had been traveling alone, driving a lot, and it was the perfect place to land for a meal. I'm from Ca, where Soul Food isn't as easy to come by, so I was taking advantage of all the more informal and inviting places I could find. A lot of the time I would be cross referencing about meals because food is a big part of why I love to travel, but this time I relied solely on Yelp. I really lucked out finding Aunt B's, it couldn't have been friendlier or more comfortable. There's great music posters and a drum kit in the corner, I wish I had been around for some live music too, it's just a great place to hang out. I was served up a hearty meat 2 did I get that right? and was so grateful it tasted like home cooking, the best! If I ever go back I sure would like to I would love to try this cheeseburger everyone's talking about. As a California girl Southern people can tell I'm not from around there so I was used to people asking me where I was from. A really sweet couple who were eating at the table next to mine asked me and we chatted a little as we ate. They were so nice. And then they were talking to a guy holding a microphone for a bit. They introduced him to me, he was Thomas the owner of the place. Well, Thomas, and his whole staff really, were so nice. He ended up sitting down at my table and we had a great conversation, I could have hung out with them long after I finished eating! Nothing intrusive, mind you, because I wouldn't have been into that, but the whole experience felt very easygoing. I think that's also hard to come by in Ca, but I sure do love it. I think because there's some good reviews on Yelp Thomas gets visitors like me from all over the world, but mostly it seems like a local chill place and he's a very cool dude and enjoyable to talk to, his staff was too! Thank you Aunt B's!
Wow. I've never left a restaurant feeling so satisfied. This old cinder block joint looks like a backwoods greasy spoon but, it's far from it. Daily meals have 3 or 4 options served cafeteria style and are so packed with homemade goodness you'll swear you Mama cooked it. They will cook you a burger to order but you really want what they're offering on the daily.
This place is straight up amazing! Myself, and the team of touring musicians I was traveling with, have been around the world and have been able to experience some of the best food to be found in many world renowned hole in the wall places. Aunt B's can easily hang with the top iconic places, not just in Tupelo's surprisingly strong food scene, but also with all the legendary places we've experienced! Truly a hidden treasure! And it's not just three food, either! The staff, the service, the atmosphere, the authenticity.....All of it, spot on! Aunt B's is, no doubt, destined to be a true famous foodie destination! Get there now, before the crowds! Great job, guys!
Love this place. You gotta try the southern homemade cooking. The people make the place and the nostalgic atmosphere is amazing. Fresh cook meal every time.
