Awful self serve with a tray food, dry flavourless chocolate cake and coffee that you que for half an hour to get, made even worse by watching staff jump ahead and get served separately at the other machine down the end whilst they have a good chat. Wish we had known about the other one in the grounds which was probably similar but without the crowds. Bring a packed lunch and eat in the grounds enjoying the view.
If you're strolling around Port Arthur and in need of a pick-me-up, make sure to visit this restaurant for a slice of hummingbird cake. It's so delicious that it will leave you feeling energized! The toasted chicken and cheese sandwich is a must-try dish that you may even have to compete with your dining partner for. The quality of the food is surprisingly good for a cafe located in a touristy visitor center. The service is also exceptional and exceeds expectations. Don't miss out on this hidden gem!
I tried the chocmocha and blueberry cheesecake at this restaurant. The mocha was excellent, not overly sweet, and the cheesecake was also very delicious. The combination of the two with the cream on top made it taste heavenly. It made me forget how tired I was after a long drive and a lengthy walk during the tour.
If you find yourself at the Port Arthur heritage site, your dining options are quite limited. The atmosphere resembles a school canteen, with food being ordered from a tray. The fish and chips and the beef burger were decent, nothing particularly outstanding. It's simply a place to grab a bite to eat if you didn't bring your own lunch to satisfy your hunger.
The restaurant's specialty is meat pies, with limited options for other menu items.
