The toast and sausage were good, but unfortunately, the whites of my eggs were still runny and clear, which was too underdone for my liking. The home fries were also undercooked and completely white, lacking any color. It seemed like they may have forgotten to properly cook them in the fryer, on the flat top, or in the oven. I have seen photos of other people's home fries looking crispy and golden brown, but mine did not come out that way this time. Although we usually do not complain or send food back, we probably should have in this case. The servers were friendly and attentive, but I was surprised they did not notice the issues with our plates. The portions were large, especially for the price of around $8.00, which was good value. I was very disappointed with the food, as I have been a customer for over 10 years and have never had such a poor breakfast experience. I hope this was just a one-time occurrence.
Best breakfast I've had in a long time! Finally found somewhere that is open at 6am! Perfect for after a great workout at the gym! Will definitely go back!
EDIT: Needed to edit my review after most recent visit. I am a vegetarian and have been going to Melina’s for years. When I first started coming I asked about how the food was cooked and they said the food was made on the same flattop, but I should not worry as there is there is no meat contact with any of the other foods. I even continued to note this just in case on numerous visits but was always assured that no contact occurs between the meats and other foods (not told they were making any special exceptions, but that it does not happen). On my visit today (June 6, 2022) I found a strip of bacon, not a small piece, it was about half a strip which I should have taken a picture of, in my hash browns. I do understand mistakes happen, but it was the response that was most uncomfortable for me. I notified my waitress and explained that I was a vegetarian and she responded “you should have told me then” my partner then attempted to explain that I had questioned on numerous occasions and was always assured that there is no contact and her response was then “how am I expected to remember you”, but as I mentioned earlier they made no previous impression that they were making any special exceptions, otherwise I would have notified her, obviously not expecting them to remember me. Unfortunately I have not had this experience at other establishments despite being a vegetarian for 9 years and Its not typically necessary to ask that something which is not listed as an ingredient be excluded from my food. Regardless, I would just expect a better response or even in a more kind tone. She did end up asking if I wanted something else but she already made me uncomfortable and I had lost my appetite. ORIGINAL POST: Melina’s is always great. Cheap prices for the classic breakfast and big portions. Has been my go-to breakfast place for the last 3 years and the food never disappoints. I’ll definitely be back again and again. Only downfall is they only take cash, they have an atm but there’s a fee of about $2.50.
I was in Port Colborne for a visit, went here for a late lunch... Nice place with great fish and chips but was unable to stay long as they close at 2pm, open really early so a good all day (until 2 breakfast place. Lots of free parking next door. Prices were reasonable.
I really adore this restaurant! The staff is incredibly friendly and the food is delicious. My boyfriend and I come here nearly every Sunday and the staff always remembers us, even what I like to order. If you are searching for great food and excellent service, this is the perfect spot for you.
